 Dannelle is visiting us from the States for the Thanksgiving holidays. She's been to every one of Jeanette's posts (Montreal, Krakow and The Azores). She'll be here for a week, leaving on Black Friday to return to the States. The weather is being marginally helpful, somewhat overcast and threats of rain so we do hope she'll be able to see stuff from the higher elevations without being blocked by clouds, etc. Obviously summer is the best time to come here with the clear skies and no rain for weeks at a time but the winter months offer cheaper flight rates and there are far less crowds of tourists to get through. |

 People who play Settlers of Cataan will recognize that call for resources. We received our load of firewood for winter. We have a nice wood-burning fireplace in the living room. It helps keep us both warm and dry during the rainy winter months. The supply you see here will last us all winter and maybe then some.

 Last night we went out with Bill Franklin and his wife Isabel. We went to a local restaurant and played Upwords (a variation of Scrabble) and then stayed for dinner. We had a great time and unfortunately had to cut it short since Bill was scheduled to meet a Major at the air terminal at 10:30pm.
Today was a very nice, relaxing Sunday. We slepted in till 10:30am. Then went over to the Tradewinds Dining Facility for brunch. We followed that with a short drive around the town of Lajes (for which the Air Force Base is named). Then went to the movie theatre at 2pm to see WALL-E. The theatre was packed with little kids - something that really didn't surprise me. Then we went to one of the on-base parks and just relaxed some more.
