We're currently posted to the Azores, a chain of 9 islands in the Atlantic Ocean.  They are 1800 miles from the US and 900 miles from Portugal.  The islands lie on the same latitude as Richmond, VA. 

We're on the island of Sao Miguel in the city of Ponta Delgada.  Sao Miguel is the largest of the nine islands.  There are 250,000 people living in the Azores and half of them are on Sao Miguel.
